Technical description of PneuTel

PneuTel consists of the following components:

1. information display, 2. communication unit, 3. motor vehicle data collecting unit, 4. pressure and temperature sensor, 5. semi-trailer collecting unit, 6. CAN, 7. radio transmission, 8. server

Signal of the sensor is captured by data collecting units. In the attached part of the vehicle (semitrailer / trailer), they add their identification to the information and send it to the leading vehicle via radio transmission with high intensity and protection against errors. Its data collection unit and the measured data is provided to the communication unit through the CAN bus. The sensors are located in the tyres and they send out information about current temperature and pressure in the given tyre, along with its identification, no less than once a minute. The sensors are capable of detecting a sharp decrease in pressure and send the information instantly, also automatically detecting movement, shifting to stand-by mode should the vehicle be idle. The lifetime of the sensor is approximately 5-6 years.

The communication unit is equipped with an internal SIM card and sends out all information to the central server through a mobile network. Users thus have updated information about the condition and mileage of all tyres observed. Information about any particular problem is sent to pre-defined phone numbers and emails.

The driver’s cabin is fitted with a simple display (which can also by reattached by Velcro), where the temperature and pressure in each tyre can be checked manually. In case of puncture or overheating, an acoustic signal and a description of the problem come up.
Optionally, a 7″ graphic display can be connected to the communication unit, which depicts the silhouette of the vehicle and the condition of the tyres.

The display can also include navigation software with maps of Europe, also with truck attributes.
